Set 2
In my second set of images I hope to experiment with new ideas and take inspiration from William Eggleston’s work and how he took photos of every day objects like cups, pots, pans, stairs etc. Also, I’m going away to Ireland so there I hope to take photos of things like the countryside and old abandoned houses and shacks. I got this idea after looking at different photographs online. Another idea I want to experiment with is using things like smoke bombs and flares in small, confined places to show someone’s wild side or their rebellious side by using things that are normally linked with hooligans or anarchists. I got this idea when I was at football and they set off flares and smoke bombs in protest to ticket prices and tv coverage . In post-processing I’m going to make small changes to the contrast, shadowing and hue\saturation to make the photo look the same and realistic but with small adjustments to show a different view of the photo.
This set of photos wasn’t successful. In this set I wanted to take inspiration from William Eggleston yet I didn’t achieve this. Instead of taking photos in the style of Eggleston I took photos of anything I thought I could Photoshop to keep with my topic ‘changed’. Also, most of these photos are black due to the camera not being set at the right settings meaning lots of them are either black or near black so they cannot be seen. I’ve kept these in to remind me to always check the settings and that I will improve my next set. However, not all of this set was unsuccessful I did experiment with putting Vaseline on the lens and it work out pretty well giving one photo a blurry focus effect which I can experiment with further in my next sets. In my next sets I hope to achieve a better set of photos inspired by artists and photographers that are naturally distorted; use different lens like a prime lens or a zoom lens. In post-processing I’m planning to use the auto contrast to make some of the photos clearer and I’m going to change the vibrancy and hue/saturation.
This is linked to my topic ‘changed’ as I took photos with an alternate view of them or I blurred them manually either shaking the camera or using different things like filters and Vaseline. Also, I wanted to Photoshop the photos going with that theme of ‘changed’.

During post-processing I mainly focused on the shadowing of the photo and the colours on the padlock. I changed the shadowing so the small shadows at the top of the padlock are really dark and the shadows casued by the tape wasn't as noticeable. I done this so the padlock is the main focus in the photo. I changed the vibrance of the rust on the padlock to make it look a lot older and worn down this was successful as now it looks more weathered however I said before I wanted to keep it looking realistic and due to the gamma of the photo also increasing it makes it isn't the outcome I wanted. Next time I post-process something like this I may work on the saturation of the photo and not the vibrance so only the colours are changed not he gamma.
During post-processing the first thing I done is auto-contrast the photo to make it easier to see ,doing this helped me as I was able to see the photo a lot more clearly. I started off by changing the vibrance and the saturation to give it a vintage look and a high contrast. Once I done this I used HDR toning to lower detail in the photo to give it a more soft look adding to that vintage look. When I started to post-process this photo I wanted to give it a vintage vibe and in my opinion I think I've successfully done this.In the future I may try this with other photos and try to make them look even better than this.
with this photo I done the same thing as before; use auto-contrast to make the photo easier and clearer to see. Once I done this I experimented with the vibrance and the colour balance, doing this made the photo look a lot more warm and soft. I also used HDR toning and altered the details in the photo to max making my cat's eyes stand out and make the fur look a lot more rugged. When I started to photoshop this image I wanted to change the eyes but unfortunately I couldn't achieve this so instead I focused on the vibrance and the overall look of the image.
This is my favourite photo out of the set. It's my favourite because the girl (my friend) looks so out of place in the woods and especially in a red military jacket and hat, that and it took us 20 shoots to get this one photo right. This is in a woods in Ireland,Galway and it was a very dull and gloomy day so it was a perfect opportunity for this photo. The location and weather add to the emotion of the photo and you can see it though her expression and the weather that its a very moody and sad feeling in the moment that the photo was taken. The focus of the photo was her and hence why she is wearing such a vibrant jacket, to draw more attention. I took this photo using a basic Samsung WB2100 16.38 MP Compact. I hope to take more shoots like this in the future because it goes with the topic 'changed' because its a very different look on people and how they act alone.
