final piece
I picked these 3 photos because out of the set in my proposal/prep work page they were the best out of them all. These photos are my most successful because they almost achieve what I wanted to in my final piece. In my proposal I wanted to take inspiration from both Commeau’s work and Armstrong’s work. Out of Commeau’s work I used the way he uses blur but added my own ideas to it; instead of showing sort-sightedness I’m using it to show someone who is shy. Also, I’m using Armstrong’s use on the way someone stands to show his or her emotions or feelings. Moving on, I can very easily manipulate these photos in post-processing to make them either really dull to show the person is annoyed or agitated. Likewise, I can make them vibrant to show off happiness or love.
During post-processing I blacked out the eyes on myself and made the black in the photo stand out more to show off my mood at the time, which was really annoyed and upset, this links to my work because I wanted to show off mood and feelings through lighting.

I made this to look really vibrant and cheery because at the time my subject was really happy so I decided to make the photo reflect this. The photo contradicts itself in a way because even though his posture says he’s annoyed he is in fact the exact opposite so making the photo more vibrant actually shows off this mood more.
This photo has some ideas from Diane Arbus and how she shows different people. I used this photo to show how different people define perfection or show their personality by the way they stand or look a bit like Armstrong too. I will carry this into my next set and use this as a bases for that set. |

This photo takes inspiration from both Bill Armstrong and Travis Commeau. I'm using Armstrong's use of blur as well as Commeau's use of it. I think this is a very good example of how both of their ideas no matter how different can still be linked and I'm going to use these two as main focuses in my next set. |
